My name is Sherry Crouse. I have been working in McDowell County for about 25 years, 13 of these years have been working in Pre-Kindergarten, but I have also worked in Kindergarten and with Special Services. I graduated in May of 2013 with the ACDS, which classifies me as a paraprofessional in McDowell County. I have one daughter, two granddaughters, and one grandson. I have three special furbabies, Brodie and Tobie are my dogs and Kayse is my cat.
Inside our classroom, we make sure to to keep a safe, caring and positive environment for the children to learn. We have class expectations that we all follow daily.
We will learn a lot this year in kindergarten, but our main goals for student success will be:
1. Reading emergent-reader text with purpose and understanding.
2. Fluently adding and subtracting problems within 5 and solve addition and subtraction problems within 10 using different objects.
3. Using a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative or explanatory texts, in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic.
As the teacher assistant, it is my responsibility:
üTo create an inviting and safe learning environment.
üTo communicate with students and their families through weekly newsletters, e-mail, telephone, and by my classroom website.
üTo provide resources for parents and students to encourage learning at home. (examples: homework, websites, etc.)
We are looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year!
