About Me
With over 30 years of teaching experience in McDowell County schools at various levels (Elementary and Secondary), I have taught the Option Pathway class at the CTC for the past five years.  I received my B.S. in Secondary Education from Bluefield State College and a M.A. from WVU.
Classroom Management
Students in the Option Pathway program participate in a computer-based study program that is individualized to meet their current strengths and weaknesses.  Each student works at his/her own pace through each of the lessons.
FYS Goals
  • Assist MV and RV students in attaining their high school diploma by passing the five subtests of the TASC in a timely manner

  •  Increase the graduation rate of Option Pathway students by at least 10% each year
Classroom Headlines
This program is designed to give high school students an opportunity to remain in school, take the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), receive CTE skill training/certification, and graduate with a high school diploma.  One half of the day, students use a variety of software programs that help prepare them to pass each of the five subtests of the TASC, which was the former GED.  The other half of their day students are working toward completion of their CTE credit in one of the 11 concentrations offered at the CTC.  Since the program was begun in 2011, twenty (20) students have successfully completed the program and received their high school diploma and entered the workforce, college, or gone on to serve in the military.
