All applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher, be able to pass an FBI/State background screening and pay the associated costs to obtain substitute certification.

Applicants without a teaching degree will be required to take a substitute teacher training course offered online through the West Virginia Department of Education at no cost to the applicant.
