The goal of McDowell County's Adult Basic Education program is to educate and prepare adult students with a second chance opportunity to become employable, job-ready citizens, aware that they can succeed at any endeavor.

The McDowell County Adult Learning Center, located adjacent to the McDowell Career and Technology Center in Welch, WV, has been serving the community by offering ABE classes. During this time, hundreds of students have obtained credentials necessary to begin college, obtained jobs, or entered the military.

The McDowell County Board of Education provides ABE instruction, as well as Computer Literacy Training. We are open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
