snowybus

Dear MCS Families,

We hope this message finds you well. As part of our continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our students and drivers, we would like to inform you of a new update to our bus routes at times during inclement weather conditions.

In the event of severe weather, such as snow, ice, or heavy rain, we may implement inclement weather routes designed to keep our buses on safer, cleared roads with cleared turn spots. These routes will avoid mountainous areas and other sections of our community where roadways may not be sufficiently cleared in time for safe travel for school buses.

These adjustments are intended to help ensure that our buses can continue running in areas where conditions are more manageable. We encourage you to monitor weather updates and watch for any communications from the district about specific route changes on days when inclement weather is expected.

What You Need to Know:

  • Inclement Weather Routes:

We will announce the use of Inclement Weather Routes in advance when necessary to avoid areas with unsafe road conditions.

  • Student Stops:

Families will need to transport students to the stop on the route that is nearest to your regular bus stop. The routes will be posted on the MCS website and social media.

  • Attendance:

If students are unable to safely get to the nearest stop, the family should send in a written note/online excuse form to explain that their child was not in school due to the bus not running. These will be excused absences.

  • Alerts:

We will announce if we need to use these routes on the MCS app, text messaging, call system, and social media.

Safety is our top priority, and we are taking every precaution to ensure that students arrive and depart school safely, even during challenging weather conditions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
